Hello, I’m Sunflower! Though some like to call me Sunny, because I light up any room I’m in! I’m a loving dog, I loooove affection, and I get along great with other dogs and any people I meet. I will say, I’m still learning to share my food and stuff with other dogs, but I can learn with proper care and guidance. So what do you say, want to be snuggle buddies?
Recently Sunflower aka Junie was in a foster (to adopt) home and this is what her caregiver wrote:
Don’t pass me up!
If you are familiar with Junie B. Jones, the book character, you will relate to this pup’s qualities: enthusiasm, unconditional love, snuggles, mischief, and a sense of adventure!
I fostered Junie for two weeks and can’t bear to let her go. But my 15 yr old dementia dog is not compatible with her puppy ways. I am heartbroken, but I must make the old dog my priority.
Please scoop her up NOW!
What she does well:
● Junie (Sunflower) walks like a champ on a leash for miles.
● She is crate trained (sleeps all night in her crate without a peep).
● She is house trained.
● She knows how to sit (using her name “Junie… sit”).
● She gets along great with my 7 year old male street dog from Sayulita, MX, and all humans.
● She is a snuggler and will be your shadow.
She is very trainable! What she is learning:
● She is learning recall with her name, Junie.
● She is learning that she doesn’t have to protect her food, toys and crate from other dogs.
● She is learning about cats. She went from high reactivity to just raising an eyebrow when the cat jumped over her on the couch.
What she needs:
● Lots of room to run. She does flip flops in the grass all day! Hilarious acrobatic moves.
● Nylon or rubber chew toys: She is a puppy!
● Secure fenced area (she can climb a 4 ½ foot chain link fence… like a bat climbing up a rock!)
● Another (male) dog to play with preferably. She is a follower…. She looks to a more mature dog for guidance.
She is not the dog to take for grocery shopping or a coffee at Starbucks, but man, can she give joy to a house where she can play with her buddy in the back yard.
