Golden RetrieverS FOR ADOPTION

Simply the best, the “Golden” hails from a lineage in the Scottish Highlands bred for hunting and water retrieval. Its characteristic gentle “soft mouth” makes it great at retrieving waterfowl or household items. They are “mouthy” — they enjoy chewing and mouthing toys. Lovely with all people and other animals, they make a perfect family dog.

They shed somewhat. Daily brushing (and maybe a Roomba) is helpful. They grow quickly, so keep them on soft ground for the first two years to help prevent joint issues. Having earned the AKC Obedience Champion title in the first three years, Goldens are easily trained. They need exercise and socialization like other breeds. Patient, gentle, friendly, and affectionate, they are popular with families everywhere.
