The “Frenchie” is a smaller version of the English Bulldog. They were first introduced in France by unemployed British textile workers seeking work during the Industrial Revolution. Small in stature, they are big on personality yet relatively quiet—perfect for apartment living or for someone working from home.
As the most popular breed in the USA since 2022, the Frenchie surpasses the Labrador. Bat-like ears, loved by Americans, unlike the Brits, and the French liking folded ears, have become breed standards. With flat little snouts and a sensitivity to climate and weather, they are more lapdogs than athletes. With a tendency to overheat, provide some light exercise in the cool of the day. Treats are great for training these food-motivated pups.
