About the Breed
Who doesn’t love a snorting, scowling, drooling, and totally lovable pup that reminds us of a historic British Prime Minister? The English bulldog is friendly and loving despite its rather grumpy look. Those wrinkles need cleaning, though. And protect them from higher temperatures. Wanting to be inside with family is its goal—dignified and brave, it loves the human touch.
Once a fighting dog in a horrific sport, bullbaiting, it is now a loving family member. Large homes or small, this pup is happy with its people and other pets. Training with positive reinforcement works, though it loves food; don’t let them become a chunky monkey. For exercise, a 30-minute walk is sufficient unless the pup is a rock star wanting agility, surfing, or some other sport.
