Upcoming Dog Adoption Events in Mission Viejo, CA
Adopt a dog at one of our dog adoption events near San Juan Capistrano
Home to the famous mission and the legendary swallows, San Juan Capistrano mixes history with a relaxed, small-town charm. Its old streets, open hills, and horse-country feel make it a great home for dogs of all sizes. Our adoption events are close enough that finding your match is easy.
Getting to an adoption event
Allow about 20 minutes from San Juan Capistrano. The easiest way is to hop on the 5 Freeway north, exit at Oso Parkway or Crown Valley, and follow the signs to Mission Viejo. Once you spot a dog you like on our available dogs page, reserve a spot to meet them at the next event.
Dog-friendly San Juan Capistrano
The Los Rios Historic District and the downtown area around Camino Capistrano are lovely for leashed strolls, and several patios welcome dogs. The Trabuco Creek trail offers a quieter walk, and the surrounding hills have more room to roam. Keep in mind that dogs aren’t allowed inside the mission grounds, so plan your outings accordingly.

Adoption Event Manager
I have been in love with dogs my entire life. I became a part of the Amazing Dogs family early 2024 and have committed myself to the cause. One of my greatest accomplishments has been working at these adoption events to find these dogs their forever homes with their forever families and then seeing them a few months later happy and adjusted. This is what Amazing Dogs Rescue is all about. I am a mom to 5 fur babies and have fostered and adopted from this rescue before I took on the role of Event Manager.
Petco Store Manager
I have proudly served the Petco Mission Viejo team for 2 years and 9 months. Throughout my time with Petco, I’ve been passionate about building lasting relationships with pet parents, supporting my team, and making a positive impact on the lives of pets every day. As a proud dog owner to two dogs, my love for animals extends beyond the workplace, making Petco the perfect place to combine my passion with my career. I enjoy helping every pet and pet parent find the right solutions while creating a welcoming experience for everyone who walks through the doors.
