Dog-friendly Point Loma
Point Loma has the kind of scenery that makes daily dog walks something to look forward to. Sunset Cliffs Natural Park has a walking path along the coast with wide ocean views, and it’s one of the most popular sunset spots for dogs and their people. The park is leash-only, and it’s worth keeping dogs well back from the cliff edges. For off-leash time, the fenced dog area on Sunset Cliffs Boulevard between Nimitz and West Point Loma gives dogs room to run, and Dog Beach in neighboring Ocean Beach is a quick drive away. Over at Liberty Station, NTC Park has plenty of open green space for leashed strolls.
Dog-friendly patios are easy to find too. Liberty Station has a number of restaurants with outdoor seating, and Eppig Brewing on Dickens Street offers open-air seating with bay views and a relaxed, dog-friendly atmosphere. One thing worth knowing: the leash law applies in most public areas outside of designated off-leash spots, so keep a leash handy.
