Our San Diego adoption events at Petco on Sports Arena Blvd are the closest option for Pacific Beach adopters. Once you find a dog you’re interested in on our available dogs page, you can reserve a spot to meet them at our next San Diego event.
Dog-friendly Pacific Beach
PB has options for dogs of every energy level. Capehart Dog Park, off Soledad Mountain Road and Felspar Street, is a designated off-leash park with separate areas for large and small dogs. Kate Sessions Memorial Park is a 79-acre hilltop park with sweeping views of Mission Bay and the ocean, and leashed dogs are welcome there. For a bigger off-leash adventure, Fiesta Island in Mission Bay is a short drive away and was voted the nation’s best dog park in a 2024 USA Today readers’ poll.
Patio dining is easy to find, with most of the neighborhood’s restaurants and bars along Garnet Avenue. Mavericks Beach Club at 860 Garnet Avenue and The Duck Dive on Mission Boulevard both have dog-friendly patios, and The Patio on Lamont Street is known for welcoming dogs with a biscuit and a bowl of water. One thing worth knowing: leashed dogs are only allowed on the beach and boardwalk during limited morning and evening hours, so early walks and sunsets work best.
