Adopt a dog at one of our dog adoption events near North Park
North Park is one of San Diego’s most walkable, dog-loving neighborhoods, and it’s about a 15-minute drive to our adoption events in San Diego. That makes it easy for North Park residents to find their new best friend at one of our events.
Getting to an adoption event
Our San Diego adoption events at Petco on Sports Arena Blvd are the closest option for North Park adopters. Once you find a dog you’re interested in on our available dogs page, you can reserve a spot to meet them at our next San Diego event.
Dog-friendly North Park
North Park sits right next to Balboa Park, which has three off-leash dog parks. Morley Field Dog Park is open 24 hours and connects to the Florida Canyon nature trails, which dogs can explore on a leash. Nate’s Point is a fully fenced 2.3-acre park that’s also open 24 hours. Grape Street Dog Park is the largest of the three at five acres, with off-leash play during posted hours.
North Park is also known for its brewery scene, and plenty of taprooms welcome dogs. Belching Beaver’s North Park tasting room is dog-friendly, Seek Brewing on El Cajon Boulevard is known for its laid-back, dog-friendly vibe, and Coronado Brewing’s North Park location has a patio where you can bring your pooch. One thing worth knowing: outside the off-leash areas, dogs in San Diego city parks must stay on a leash.
