Upcoming Dog Adoption Events in Mission Viejo, CA
Adopt a dog at one of our dog adoption events near Lake Forest
Lake Forest, which includes the communities of Foothill Ranch and Portola Hills, is about a 15-minute drive to our adoption events in Mission Viejo. That makes it easy for Lake Forest residents to find their new best friend at one of our events.
Getting to an adoption event
Our Mission Viejo adoption events are held at Petco on Santa Margarita Parkway on select Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Once you find a dog you’re interested in on our available dogs page, reserve before 10 a.m. on the Friday before the event and we’ll bring that dog to meet you.
Dog-friendly Lake Forest
Lake Forest has two city dog parks of its own. Barker Ranch Dog Park, at 25600 Baffin Bay Drive, has artificial turf, separate entrances and play areas for large and small dogs, water stations, and benches, and it’s open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Portola Dog Park, at 28040 Glenn Ranch Road, has water stations and dog activity obstacles and is open from dawn to dusk.
For leashed walks, Pittsford Park has open lawns for fetch and exploring. One thing worth knowing: dogs must wear a current license, be up to date on vaccinations, and be leashed when entering and exiting the dog parks, and no food is allowed inside.

Adoption Event Manager
I have been in love with dogs my entire life. I became a part of the Amazing Dogs family early 2024 and have committed myself to the cause. One of my greatest accomplishments has been working at these adoption events to find these dogs their forever homes with their forever families and then seeing them a few months later happy and adjusted. This is what Amazing Dogs Rescue is all about. I am a mom to 5 fur babies and have fostered and adopted from this rescue before I took on the role of Event Manager.
Petco Store Manager
I have proudly served the Petco Mission Viejo team for 2 years and 9 months. Throughout my time with Petco, I’ve been passionate about building lasting relationships with pet parents, supporting my team, and making a positive impact on the lives of pets every day. As a proud dog owner to two dogs, my love for animals extends beyond the workplace, making Petco the perfect place to combine my passion with my career. I enjoy helping every pet and pet parent find the right solutions while creating a welcoming experience for everyone who walks through the doors.
