Upcoming Dog Adoption Events in Mission Viejo, CA
Adopt a dog at one of our dog adoption events near Laguna Hills
Laguna Hills is a South County city with miles of trails, and it’s about a 15-minute drive to our adoption events in Mission Viejo. That makes it easy for Laguna Hills residents to find their new best friend at one of our events.
Getting to an adoption event
Our Mission Viejo adoption events are held at Petco on Santa Margarita Parkway on select Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Once you find a dog you’re interested in on our available dogs page, reserve before 10 a.m. on the Friday before the event and we’ll bring that dog to meet you.
Dog-friendly Laguna Hills
The city has a network of trails for walking with your dog, including the paved Alicia Trail and the Aliso Creek Trail. The city also publishes two-mile walking routes that start at the Laguna Hills Community Center on Alicia Parkway, and leashed dogs are allowed on them. Routes go through Sheep Hills Park, up to El Conejo Park, and around Mandeville Park, which has a flat paved loop.
For off-leash play, La Paws Dog Park in nearby Mission Viejo has separate play areas for large and small dogs. One thing worth knowing: dogs must stay on a leash on the city’s walking routes.

Adoption Event Manager
I have been in love with dogs my entire life. I became a part of the Amazing Dogs family early 2024 and have committed myself to the cause. One of my greatest accomplishments has been working at these adoption events to find these dogs their forever homes with their forever families and then seeing them a few months later happy and adjusted. This is what Amazing Dogs Rescue is all about. I am a mom to 5 fur babies and have fostered and adopted from this rescue before I took on the role of Event Manager.
Petco Store Manager
I have proudly served the Petco Mission Viejo team for 2 years and 9 months. Throughout my time with Petco, I’ve been passionate about building lasting relationships with pet parents, supporting my team, and making a positive impact on the lives of pets every day. As a proud dog owner to two dogs, my love for animals extends beyond the workplace, making Petco the perfect place to combine my passion with my career. I enjoy helping every pet and pet parent find the right solutions while creating a welcoming experience for everyone who walks through the doors.
