Adopt a dog at one of our dog adoption events near Fernley
Fernley is a growing high-desert town east of Reno where there’s room to spread out and families like to keep things simple. Plenty of homes here have yards that are perfect for a dog. You can reach our Sparks event in about 30 minutes, so finding your new companion is a manageable day out.
Getting to an adoption event
From Fernley, head west on I-80 toward Sparks, and you’ll reach our event at Tractor Supply Co. in about 30 minutes. It’s a straightforward highway drive with no tricky turns. Once you’ve picked a dog from our available dogs page, reserve a spot to meet them at the next event.
Dog-friendly Fernley
Fernley’s open spaces and local parks give dogs room to run on a leash, and cooler mornings and evenings are the best time for walks. The desert heat can be hard on paws and noses, so bring water and skip midday walks in summer. Wide-open land nearby makes weekend exploring easy, though it’s smart to keep dogs leashed around wildlife.

Adoption Event Manager
I’m Tara and I’m the Events Manager for Amazing Dogs Rescue Reno, where I get to help furry friends find their forever homes! My lifelong love for dogs began in childhood because my dad was a K9 officer. His K9 partners were additions to our family and I was hands-on with their care and love. Around the age of 12, my dad showed me the ropes with dog training. Fast-forward to the present, wherein our family has adopted our dog, Bronx, for our daughter (who has Down Syndrome). It’s been so rewarding to guide him through service certification. I’ve always been in awe of a dog’s capabilities to love and learn. It’s my passion to help people connect with their furry best friend(s)!
