Adopt a dog at one of our dog adoption events near Fair Oaks
Fair Oaks is the kind of town where free-roaming chickens wander through the village and the American River is never far from your front door. Our Folsom adoption events are about 20 minutes away, which puts finding your new best friend well within reach.

Dog-friendly Fair Oaks
Fair Oaks Village is a favorite for dog owners, with its shady streets, local shops, and relaxed, small-town atmosphere. Fair Oaks Bluffs and the nearby American River Parkway offer trails and river views for leashed walks, and Village Park hosts a Sunday market that many locals attend with their dogs. Keep in mind that the village’s famous chickens roam freely, so a dog who is a little chase-prone should stay on a short leash.

After raising five kids—including four feral boys—I know a thing or two about running with the pack. And as they all know, I’m a total sucker for dogs—especially the old-timers nobody else wants! While others chase puppies, I roll out the red carpet for the grumpy, grey-muzzled sweethearts. There’s nothing better than spoiling these senior pups with belly rubs, treats, and a cozy home for their golden years.
Lucky for me, I work for an organization that loves dogs as much as I do—because if they didn’t, trust me, I wouldn’t be here!
