Adopt a dog at one of our dog adoption events near Citrus Heights
Citrus Heights is a friendly suburban city in northeastern Sacramento County, known for its community spirit, creekside trails, and family neighborhoods. Dog owners here often enjoy a slower pace and plenty of green space for everyday adventures. If your home is ready for a new best friend, you can meet adoptable dogs at one of our events without a big trip.
Getting to an adoption event
Plan on about 20 to 25 minutes to reach our Sacramento adoption event at Petco from Citrus Heights, with Greenback Lane and Business 80 as popular routes. It’s an easy trip if you leave a little buffer for traffic. After you choose a pup from our available dogs page, reserve a meet-and-greet and head over.
Dog-friendly Citrus Heights
Rusch Park and the creek-side paths around Arcade Creek give dogs room to sniff, walk, and play. Neighborhoods here are well suited to evening strolls, and shopping areas often have shady spots to rest. As always, check each park’s posted rules for leash requirements.

Adoption Event Manager
After raising five kids—including four feral boys—I know a thing or two about running with the pack. And as they all know, I’m a total sucker for dogs—especially the old-timers nobody else wants! While others chase puppies, I roll out the red carpet for the grumpy, grey-muzzled sweethearts. There’s nothing better than spoiling these senior pups with belly rubs, treats, and a cozy home for their golden years.
Lucky for me, I work for an organization that loves dogs as much as I do—because if they didn’t, trust me, I wouldn’t be here!
Dog Trainer
I’ve been loving and caring for all types of animals my whole life! After trying many different paths, I found my calling as a dog trainer. In doing so, I’ve helped many families grow closer together as they have fun while also learning. I have my senior Chihuahua mutts at home that are my entire world.
