Adopt a dog at one of our dog adoption events near Carson City
As Nevada’s capital, Carson City mixes historic charm with easy access to the Sierra, and it has a strong community of dog lovers. Getting to an adoption event
From Carson City, you can reach our Sparks event at Tractor Supply Co. in about 45 minutes by heading north on US-395 and connecting to I-80 east. It’s a scenic drive, so make a morning of it. Browse our available dogs page beforehand and reserve a spot to meet the dog you’re hoping to adopt.
Dog-friendly Carson City
The city has parks, riverside paths, and nearby trails where leashed dogs are welcome. The Carson River area and the foothills around town offer variety for weekend outings, and downtown has a walkable feel that suits a dog on a leash. Check each trail’s rules before heading out, and bring water since this area gets hot and dry in summer.

Adoption Event Manager
I’m Tara and I’m the Events Manager for Amazing Dogs Rescue Reno, where I get to help furry friends find their forever homes! My lifelong love for dogs began in childhood because my dad was a K9 officer. His K9 partners were additions to our family and I was hands-on with their care and love. Around the age of 12, my dad showed me the ropes with dog training. Fast-forward to the present, wherein our family has adopted our dog, Bronx, for our daughter (who has Down Syndrome). It’s been so rewarding to guide him through service certification. I’ve always been in awe of a dog’s capabilities to love and learn. It’s my passion to help people connect with their furry best friend(s)!
