Adopt a dog at one of our dog adoption events near Cameron Park
Cameron Park blends a relaxed foothill lifestyle with quick access to Highway 50, and it’s known for its lake, its airport community, and its tree-lined neighborhoods. It’s the kind of place where a dog gets plenty of attention and plenty of room. Our Folsom adoption events are a short drive west, making it simple to meet an adoptable dog and take the next step.
Getting to an adoption event
From Cameron Park, you’ll head west on Highway 50 for about 20 minutes to reach our Folsom event. The drive is mostly freeway and easy to navigate, though traffic can slow near El Dorado Hills at peak hours. Petco in Folsom is the closest option for Cameron Park adopters. When a dog on our available dogs page catches your eye, reserve a spot to meet them at the next Folsom event.
Dog-friendly Cameron Park
Cameron Park Lake is the heart of the community and a favorite spot for leashed dog walks, with a path that circles the water and plenty of shade. Neighborhoods here are quiet and spread out, with sidewalks and roads that are great for daily outings. The Cameron Park Airport area is also well known for a laid-back Saturday gathering that many locals enjoy with their dogs. As in most public spaces, keep your dog leashed and check for posted rules.

After raising five kids—including four feral boys—I know a thing or two about running with the pack. And as they all know, I’m a total sucker for dogs—especially the old-timers nobody else wants! While others chase puppies, I roll out the red carpet for the grumpy, grey-muzzled sweethearts. There’s nothing better than spoiling these senior pups with belly rubs, treats, and a cozy home for their golden years.
Lucky for me, I work for an organization that loves dogs as much as I do—because if they didn’t, trust me, I wouldn’t be here!
