Upcoming Dog Adoption Events in San Diego, CA
Adopt a dog at one of our dog adoption events near Bay Park
Bay Park sits between Tecolote Canyon and Mission Bay, and it’s only about a 10-minute drive to our adoption events in San Diego. That makes it easy for Bay Park residents to find their new best friend at one of our events.
Getting to an adoption event
Our San Diego adoption events at Petco on Sports Arena Blvd are the closest option for Bay Park adopters. Once you find a dog you’re interested in on our available dogs page, you can reserve a spot to meet them at our next San Diego event.
Dog-friendly Bay Park
Bay Park is a great fit for dog owners because it’s surrounded by green space. Tecolote Canyon Natural Park offers about 6.5 miles of trails where leashed dogs are welcome, and the city asks that dogs stay leashed in the canyon. For off-leash play, Fiesta Island in Mission Bay Park is a short drive away. It’s a leash-optional area that includes the shoreline and interior, and it was voted the nation’s best dog park in a 2024 USA Today readers’ poll. It’s open from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
Patio dining is easy to find, with most of the neighborhood’s restaurants along Morena Boulevard. Bay Park Fish Company on Ashton Street has a pet-friendly patio, Bay Park Coffee and Tea has a dog-friendly patio, and Coronado Brewing Company’s Mission Bay location at Knoxville and Morena is known for its pooch-friendly atmosphere. One thing worth knowing: outside Fiesta Island, dog access in the rest of Mission Bay Park is subject to seasonal restrictions, and dogs must be leashed outside those hours.
